it’s time for a new theme!  this week we decided to have some fun and revert back to childhood.  but maybe not in the way you might think.  what we mean by this is that we want you to let yourself see like a child again, revert back to all the simplicity that being a child entails.  we got this idea from one of our past guest artists, naomi.  

she’s currently showing art done by her and her daughter, roxy, and what captured me about this idea was the way her young daughter interpreted the things her mother was seeing/painting.  everything is stripped down to the simple shapes and colors of a child.  the details are fewer, but just as effective.  

so, what we’re asking is that you take something that’s already been created and re-create it through the filter of a child’s eye, or just create something original from this childlike perspective and see how different it is to see the world this way as opposed to the one you have now as an adult.  for some, it may not be that different. haha.. 

i think picasso was also onto this idea before we even knew it..
