our guest artist this week is becky filip who has a knack for portraiture, instilling her sweet style on her subjects whether they be girls or animals. We first fell in love with becky’s art on etsy, but she is also part of a music duo called the honey trees. what really attracted us to her though is the relationship she has with her younger brother, simon. simon is the talented photographer who frequently uses becky in his photos and even shot a honey trees music video. it’s the creative brother/sister duo force that reminds steph and i of ourselves haha.. maybe simon filip will be a guest artist for artsignals too. but without further to do, we present to you the portraits of some talented folks.

Recently, Steph and I have felt a longing to get back to the roots of creativity, and It seems fair to say that a good deal of art and art history has involved portraits. Artists have been making portraits for hundreds of years, so grab your paints, grab your easel, grab your canvas, and create a portrait! It can be of anyone or anything, get creative and give us what you got! Also, we may have a very special guest artist joining us… so get your portrait on!

i fell in love with summer in a special way this year. i lost my job in june and so i actually got to have a summer haha! i fell in love with going to the beach and laughing and being with people i like and acting like a kid again.. and documenting it all in little videos ha.  i fell in love with these days..

well as zac said earlier, we’ve taken a bit of a summer hiatus, but we’re back and ready for action!  so, to kick off ‘back to arting’ our new theme is SUMMER LOVE.  what did you fall in love with this summer?  whether it was a person, a place, a certain activity, a certain thing or food.. create a piece in honor of that new found love!

If you hadn’t noticed, we’ve been on a bit of a sabbatical haha. Steffaloo and I got a little distracted this summer, filled with exciting changes, creativity, and reunions. Recently, Steffaloo has been doing a bit of touring in anticipation for her first ever 7” record, “On Fire”, which can be pre-ordered here for your listening pleasure, and I’ve been busy returning back to art school for the fall. But we’re back and ready for some new themes! We love this project and believe it’s a unique opportunity for anyone and everyone to get creative and display their work proudly in a social media environment. So feel free to contribute to our weekly artings and we’ll be posting a new theme sometime this weekend!

most people don’t necessarily associate fashion with being it’s own art form, but in the last year living in LA and actually getting to go to a real fashion show, it became more clear to me just how much of an art fashion really is.  it encompasses so many aspects of ‘art’ that it’s crazy.  drawing, composition, still life, shape, photography.. so, we gave our best shot in conveying to you how we see fashion.  they, along with our submissions, just so happened to all mostly be photographs..

well, summer is about to be in full swing and since that means new clothes for a lot of us, we’ve decided to make this weeks theme FASHION!  so show us just how great your fashion sense is.. you can simply show us how your own style/fashion expresses who you are, you can design your own piece of clothing, you can basically do whatever you want!  just create something that expresses how you feel about fashion.
